Actor Ajay Devgn is basking in the success of his latest film, Singham Again. However, despite his larger-than-life screen presence, he is often scrutinised for his choice of brand endorsements, especially a mouth-freshener product that he’s been associated with for a long time. The actor now finally opened up on being heavily trolled for becoming the face of the brand.
Ajay was present on The Ranveer Show when he broke his silence on the viral memes with his stills and clips from the brand advertisements. The actor, who is known for his intensity on-screen, shared that he doesn’t mind getting trolled. When the host asked him how he felt upon seeing ‘Zubaan Kesari’ (the brand’s tagline) memes, Ajay flashed a wide smile on his face, and said, “It’s okay. It doesn’t matter”.
Director Rohit Shetty, who was also present with the actor on the same podcast, added that nobody finds such memes offensive any more. He shared that people, in fact, share these memes across and find it ‘cool’.
The Singham Again director backed Ajay and added, “I think it is done being offensive now. Everyone enjoys memes these days. It’s now about laughing at it and saying, ‘Arre, did you see this meme?’ It has become cool now.”
Apart from Ajay, actors Shah Rukh Khan and Tiger Shroff also endorse the same product and have been called out in the past for encouraging the consumption of ‘tobacco’ in the guise of endorsing mouth-fresheners. Earlier, actor Akshay Kumar also appeared in an advertisement for the same brand, but he later backed out, and apologised to his fans for hurting their sentiments.
Meanwhile, Ajay and Rohit are now teaming up for Golmaal 5. The fifth instalment in their popular horror franchise is expected to be rolled out soon.
